Another closely contested matchup unfolded in Slovenj Gradec, with Slovenia building a comfortable lead late in the second quarter. A buzzer-beating three-pointer sent the home team into halftime ahead 27:16. Slovakia came out of the break with renewed energy, putting together an 18:0 run to take a 34:27 lead. The momentum had completely shifted, and Slovakia never looked back, securing their first victory of the tournament with a 66:35 win. The final game of the opening day featured Romania and Croatia. Romania made a strong start and took an early lead, but Croatia stayed close throughout the opening quarter. In the second quarter, Croatia caught up and briefly took a narrow advantage. From then on, the lead changed hands several times, with Romania holding a slim 32:30 lead at halftime. The second half remained closely contested, with Romania maintaining a slight edge for most of the third quarter. However, Croatia regained the lead in the closing seconds of the period, taking a 50:49 advantage into the final quarter. Romania fought until the end but couldn't complete another comeback, as Croatia pulled away in the closing minutes to secure a 65:55 victory.
